Event Description

Modern Kintsugi Workshop

Kintsugi is a traditional Japanese technique for repairing broken ceramics by applying gold, silver, or lacquer to the cracks. Rather than concealing imperfections, this art form highlights them, embracing flaws as part of the object’s history and beauty. It has been revered in Japan since ancient times as a practice that breathes new life into broken pieces.

Traditional Kintsugi can take up to two months to complete, but in this workshop, we will use a food-safe epoxy that hardens quickly, allowing participants to experience the essence of Kintsugi in a shorter time.

All materials and tools will be provided—please bring only broken pieces (recommened)

Requirements for your ceramic piece:

  • Palm-sized
  • Glazed
  • Simply broken into 2-3 pieces
  • No previous glue applied

Items that do not meet these requirements may not be repairable within the workshop’s timeframe. If you are unsure whether your piece is suitable, please email us a photo for confirmation.

If you do not have a ceramic piece, please let us know—we may be able to provide one. However, availability, size, and shape may vary.

Please note that due to the limited number of spots and the preparation required, we are unable to offer refunds or rescheduling for this workshop.
