Sake & Ceramics night in the East Village
May 9
07:00 pm - 08:30 pm
Women of Culture NYC
Event Description
Unleash your creativity and immerse yourself in the beauty of Japanese craftsmanship in this one-of-a-kind workshop led by NYC-based ceramicist Kay Kojima.
Advance purchase required here
We’ll begin with a hands-on ceramic handbuilding session where you’ll create your own pair of ochoko — traditional sake cups. Don’t worry if you’ve never touched clay before — Kay will guide you step-by-step, and all tools & materials are included! Your finished pieces will be fired twice, glazed, and ready for pickup at KinKa in about a month — a beautiful memory made tangible.
But the magic doesn’t stop there…
Next, elevate your senses with a curated sake tasting led by expert Ken Lydon-Williams, who’ll take you on a flavourful journey through 4–5 exquisite sakes, each selected to showcase the artistry behind Japan’s beloved brew. 🍶 To enhance the experience, EunYoung will serve a delicate spread of homemade Japanese pickles, adding depth and umami to every sip.
This is more than just a workshop — it’s a chance to slow down, be present, and tap into the joy of making something with your own hands while discovering the mindful elegance of sake culture.
Whether you’re looking to explore a new medium, deepen your appreciation of Japanese traditions, or simply unwind with a creative, soulful evening — this experience offers connection, artistry, and inspiration in equal measure.
All tickets include 4-5 Sake tastes as well as homemade Japanese pickles.
✨ Come for the clay. Stay for the sake. Leave with your soul (and your hands) full.
