Suminagashi: Meditative Paper Marbling Workshop at The Greats of Craft

Join in for a night of meditative paper marbling at The Greats of Craft in Manhattan! Led by Kelly Laughlin, artist, writer, and founder of Odette Press, you’ll learn the basics of the Suminagashi marbling process. Find creative flow as you make your own marbled paper! Truly a meditative class, this process is simple, inspiring, and relaxing. Translating to “floating ink” or “spilled ink”, Suminagashi is the process of swirling colorful inks on the surface of water and laying down paper to make mesmerizing prints.

You’ll learn the basics of the paper marbling process, then spend your time making a collection of marbled prints. This soothing, inspiring class is great for beginners, or anyone looking for a creative night. No experience necessary! First drink (up to $10) included with ticket, with alcoholic and n/a beverages available.

Come alone, or bring a friend, and make a moment for creative calm in the middle of a busy week. Grab a drink from the Greats of Craft bar and flow with the marbling process: ink, breath, water, and paper.

The flow:

• We’ll start with introductions and a creative prompt
• You’ll be guided through a short introduction to the suminagashi process
• You’ll spend the rest of your time exploring ink and making your mesmerizing designs.
• You’ll leave with a collection of your own marbled papers, great for framing, letter writing, gift wrapping, letter writing, collaging, etc.

All materials provided. Ticket includes one drink from the bar, with non-alcoholic options.

Refunds: Requests for full refunds can be made up to 48 hours of the event. Requests made between 48 – 24 hours of the event are eligible for Eventbrite credit for a future event. Any requests made within 24 hours of the event start time or after the event are not eligible for workshop credit or refund. Tickets may be transferred to another attendee.
